A bright mid-ruby hue with aromatically detailed red plum, red apple and raspberry fruits leaping from the glass. Hints of exotic spices, pressed flowers, Chinese barbecue shop, leaf litter, mushroom risotto, amaro herbs and game meats. Bright and focused with a lovely fruit and acid tension, fine, chalky tannins and a mineral-laden acid drive. There is a vitality and shape to this wine that impresses greatly, finishing savoury and sustained.

Very expressive, damson plum and ripe strawberry characteristics mix with an earthy, peaty, aniseed edge and some violet/floral notes. The mouthfeel is luxurious and supple. A joy to drink in its youth with more than a little grunt for a pinot but still sexy and delicious, with a fine, long, lingering finish.

Dense and with more weight than others in the Dalrymple Single Site range, there is a concentration and focus to this Coal River Pinot Noir. Unlike previous releases I've seen, this is straight up and down. A wine that does the job well, but the lights are on and the party hasn't started yet. Those muted feels will have guests staring into their glasses hopeful for excitement. Notwithstanding, it's a respectable Pinot highlighted by red and dark cherries, red apple and cola. Woodsy and Christmas cake spices along with some cedar add interest, but when your siblings have the glitz and glamour, that's where you want to be. You'll find me dancing with Ouse. Quite a deep colour with a good tint of purple; there are dried herb/nettle, cola and brandied cherry aromas, while the palate is quite intense and a little lean in its shape, the tannins assertive and very drying, leaving a trace of firmness on the long-lasting follow-through. A solid, well structured pinot noir that could reward a little more time in the bottle.
