This new range of casks has many advantages – organics, sustainability, less of an environmental impact and value, but if the wine inside does not measure up then they are going nowhere. Fortunately…Yellow gold hue, we have notes of stonefruits and melons, ripe apricots and a hint of citrus. There is more finesse here than found in the Grigio, although still plenty of flavour, so choice may well come down to personal preference – in your face flavour or a more restrained style. This is a medium length wine with good ripeness and freshness, and there is a flick of crunchy acidity plus a slightly minerally texture. Thoroughly enjoyable drinking and a crowd pleaser rather than something depending on complexity.

Special Mention - Elegant and poised. This is full of flavour hidden throughout. Lemon balm, hay, vanilla, peach and blossom all peek out from behind the curtain and the finish just keeps going.
