The Details

Tasting Note The Nautilus Cuvee Marlborough Brut NV is pale straw in colour with a fine bead and creamy mousse. The wine has a distinctive nutty bouquet, which shows the richness of a Pinot Noir dominant blend and the benefits of extended maturation. An elegant, finely structured wine in which the fruit flavours harmonise with biscuity, yeast-derived complexities and crisp acidity to give a lingering dry finish.
Best Enjoyed With Try with delicious fresh oysters or parmesan wafers.
Treatment The individual base wines are fermented with selected champagne yeast and left of lees until undergoing a full malolactic fermentation in the traditional Champenoise style. Blending typically occurs in September, and at this stage, a portion of reserve wine is introduced to add complexity and character to the Cuvee in a traditional non vintage style. The blend is then bottled and undergoes a secondary fermentation before being aged for a minimum of 36 months prior to disgorging and release.

The Story

The natural beauty and mathematical precision of the nautilus shell has been our inspiration to create expressive, textural, precisely crafted wines at Nautilus Estate since 1985. Back in those days there were around 80 wineries in New Zealand. Today there are over 500, yet we remain under the same family ownership, committed to making wines from the stunningly beautiful Marlborough region of New Zealand.

Tense and youthful
Pristine, fresh, pure, savoury and delicately complex. Citrus, white peach, savoury fine lees autolysis with toasted brioche and oaty flavours. Tense and youthful, explosive mousse, long and dry.

A beautifully poised wine with an ethereal texture and lingering finish.
Made from 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay aged on the lees for three years. Crisp, flavoursome méthode with a strong yeasty, baguette crust flavour together with toast, hazelnut and citrus characters. A beautifully poised wine with an ethereal texture and lingering finish.

...lemon rind and a subtle, white-peach thread on the palate.
This has a bready and slightly toasty edge to the nose with lemon rind and a subtle, white-peach thread on the palate. Some handy freshness and a smoothly rendered, nutty finish. Drink now.
