The Details

Tasting Note The wine is green and vibrant in appearance, with zesty lemon and grapefruit aromas. The palate is intense and generous, with lively lime, citrus flavours. The wine finishes dry with refreshing, long acidity. As is the case with all great Eden Valley Rieslings, mesh will age gracefully into a mature wine.
Best Enjoyed With Perfect with natural oysters, or a rocket, pecan and pomegranate salad.
Treatment Clare Valley’s Jeffrey Grosset and Eden Valley’s Robert Hill-Smith work together each vintage before taking their chosen grapes – Jeffrey’s in the blue buckets and Robert’s in the yellow - and parting ways to crush and ferment the fruit at different locations. Debate follows, as the juice is assessed and the final, final, final blend is agreed upon. Each component, nearly identical at the start, undergoes a different conversion into wine, reflecting the personal differences of both men.

Accolades

A collaboration between two great riesling dudes
A collaboration between two great riesling dudes, Jeffrey Grosset and Robert Hill Smith, has just got to be great, right!?! Pale straw with aromas of freshly squeezed lime, green apple and white peach along with Bickford's cordial, Christmas lily, crushed stone and green-apple sorbet. With just a touch of grapefruit pith, the wine displays that classic 'tubular' palate shape, a core of pure limey fruit being propelled by vivid minerally acidity finishing dry, stony and flush with lime and floral top notes.

This is all class
An excellent Riesling with vibrance, clean lines and an acid length that just purrs, this Mesh 2023 from the Eden Valley is a ripper! From the website: Clare Valley’s Jeffrey Grosset and Eden Valley’s Robert Hill-Smith work together each vintage before taking their chosen grapes – Jeffrey’s in the blue buckets and Robert’s in the yellow - and parting ways to crush and ferment the fruit at different locations. Lime zest, green apple and apple sours light up the mood. Add some grapefruit and lime juice and it's humming with that citrusy vibe and tang. There is a fine rub of texture in the form of Mediterranean tonic with an attractive mouth perfume. A wine that has proven to age well, this is all class for the asking price. Drink to ten years+

Good length and precision
Apparently Grosset uses the blue buckets, and Hill-Smith uses the yellow buckets. A bit like The Matrix in a way. Quite cool and spicy. Lime and lime zest, a little cucumber in tonic water, a slight fennel and lime leaf perfume. It’s tight and crunchy, cucumber rind and quinine, a fine stony grip to it, with a pure and zesty, yet kind of juicy lime and grapefruit flavour to close on a finish of good length and precision. No shortage of energy. Kind or lean, but very good.
