Treatment To make this wine, fruit from Pinot Noir clones 114, 115, 5, 667 and 777 was hand harvested and de-stemmed without crushing to allow a portion of whole berries in the ferment. A small amount of whole bunch fruit was also included in some ferments (average 20% whole bunch).

Good stuff!
Dark cherries and an encompassing savoury drive highlight this most approachable Nautilus Southern Valleys Pinot Noir. From the Marlborough region of New Zealand, those dark cherries hang for what seems an eternity with a litany of savoury characters featuring dried leaves and those autumnal things, barbecue smoke, leather, twigs and tilled earth. It reaches long with the acid well placed showing a little citrus twist. I happily have a glass. Good stuff!

The integration of oak and fruit is precise
It’s a wine that captures the Marlborough Pinot Noir style really well. Opens with a wave of dark cherry aroma and even a little blackberry, underpinned with a slightly smoky, spicy character. The palate delivers more sour cherry character that balances with a finishing savouriness. The integration of oak and fruit is precise and creates a seamless, textural mouthfeel. It was made with minimal handling in the winery, and this has resulted in a wine that displays a lightness of touch and vibrancy throughout.

This wine is varietal, well balanced and enjoyable
Stewed cherry-berry fruit flavours, woodsy spice notes, smoky reduction and a clean, steely, spicy finish. This wine is varietal, well balanced and enjoyable to drink, with a slight (attractive) twiggy-ness to the aftertaste.
